Maine Governor Janet Mills announced Thursday that 18 people were killed and 13 were injured during Wednesday evening’s mass shootings in Lewiston.
According to Mills, the suspect in the case, identified as 40-year-old Robert Card, is still at large. Mills said Card is “armed and extremely dangerous.”
Seven people were killed at Just-In-Time. At Schemengees, which is about four miles way from Just-In-Time, seven people were killed inside and one was killed outside the bar. Three victims died in the hospital, say authorities.
Eight of the fatal victims have been identified. Because the remaining 10 victims have not been identified, an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect on eight counts of murder.
Dr. John Alexander with Central Maine Medical Center said on Thursday that eight patients are currently in the hospital: Three are in critical condition and five are stable.
Army Spokesman Bryce Dubee tells PEOPLE that the suspect is a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve.The Associated Press, citing a state police bulletin, reports the suspect had recently been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks this past summer.
According to the bulletin, the suspect had threatened to perpetrate a shooting at a military base in Saco, Maine. The bulletin also says the suspect had said he’d heard voices.
At Thursday’s press conference, Col. William Ross of the Maine State Police encouraged people who come into contact with the suspect or anyone resembling him to call 911.

Lewiston police haveposted numerous photos of the suspect, who appears to be holding an assault rifle, on the agency’s Facebook page. Police also posted a photo of whatthey believe to be the suspect’s car.
Nichoel Wyman Arel, an eyewitness, told CNN that she and her daughter were on their way home from a Girl Scouts event when they saw people streaming out of the bowling alley.
“As we were leaving the scene we did see somebody who had blood all over them,” she said.
Her daughter, she said, “was definitely scared. She started crying. She was like, ‘This is a scary world we live in, Mom.'”
