Photographer Levi Bettweiser from theRescued Film Projecthas discovered and processed 31 rolls of film becharm by an unidentified American solider during the Second World War .

Asreportedin PetaPixel , Bettweiser ground the curl of film late last class at an auction sale in Ohio . He knew nothing about who shot the picture or who it go to , but some of the rolls were label with various locating name , let in “ Boston Harbor , ” “ Lucky Strike Beach , ” and “ LaHavre Harbor . ”

As he say in the video , there ’s no warranty that an old stack of film — in this case , 31 rolls dating from over 70 years ago — are salvageable . Thus , it ’s the first axial rotation that makes Bettweiser the most nervous , as it ’s often indicative of the lineament of the intact heap .
“ My emotions always run high up when I open that armoured combat vehicle and pull out negatives that hold images that have never before been seen , ” Bettweiser tell io9 . “ But with this batch , each time I pulled out a roll I felt a vast degree of reverence and respect for the epitome . ”
Indeed , as you could see from these exposure , the quality is very honest . Here ’s a minuscule sampling .
“ We think it ’s important to rescue film to preserve history because we feel that all present moment that someone takes a picture of are meaning , ” says Bettweiser . “ It does n’t just have to be pic of large historic event . mass take pictures of thing they want to remember and we require to try out and reconnect them with those mental image . ”
