A newMagic : The Gatheringset is on the fashion , and that of course intend more plug-in to fling at your opposer ’s pack of cards — and io9 has a flavour at aparticularly sneaky cardcoming to The Brothers ’ War .
The Brothers ’ Waris — and you might need to sit down if you ’ve not played Magic in a red-hot min before reading this bit — the 94th enlargement to thevenerable calling card game , and based around the events of the nominal conflict inMagic ’s original sheet , Dominaria , as the brothers Urza and Mishra grow apart and violently flung the world into a devastating war . First explored all the way back in the ‘ 90 set antiquity , it ’s a chance to revisit one of the most important conflicts in Magic ’s lore , and grapple once more with one of its most ominous cabal , the debauch Phyrexians . Suffice to say , you ’ll need a few tricks up your arm to shut out your opposition ’s powerful cards down , and our undivided look at the white - mana bewitchment card Static Net will let you do so :
Static Net lets you target one of your adversary permanents in caper , deport them from the battlefield for as long as Static Net is still in frolic itself — perfect for containing a major threat before it can dilute aside at your own circuit board or your wellness puddle . On top of that , when it first enters play it also grants you a powerstone token , a major machinist in blood brother ’ War cards . Powerstones get you expand your mana consortium even further , hold you an extra colourless mana to be used to play any non - artifact spell . mesh down one of your opposer ’s expectant plays and get a little something extra for your own plans ? Very nice .
