Thefirst time of year ofAndorturned out to be one of the best show ( both sci - fi and in the main speaking ) of last year . Thanks to some moderately great performances and writing , the show was n’t so much the Rogue One prequel it was initially pitch as and more a look at whatrebellionandgovernment systemslook like , and how those two things become deeply interconnected — and we ’ve gotten a glance at what ’s due in season two
During the show ’s panel at London ’s Star Wars Celebration , showrunner Tony Gilroy and several of the show ’s author , along with Diego Luna ( Cassian Andor ) , provided a look at the series ’ next and concluding time of year for the hearing in attending in London , England . With season one now having set up unlike rebel factions and the key players in those group , like Cassian , Mon Mothma ( Genevieve O’Reilly ) , and Luthen ( Stellan Skarsgård ) , season two can now show how those groups come together to form the Rebel Alliance . It ’s not going to be an loose taskfor Cassian , since some of those faction drawing card , like Saw Gerrera ( Forest Whitaker ) , do n’t exactly get along with the others .
Footage shown at Celebration teased the return of key character , including Rebel jail cell extremity Vel Sartha and Luthen Rael ( in and out of his disguise as an antiquity dealer ) , as well as Syril Karn , who appears to have gone up in the existence , and been thrust into a high class of royal citizenship . panorama also showed Mon Mothma slowly work up alliances , assay to convey her disparate senatorial and malcontent worlds together as protest grow across the galaxy . We ’ll see how Cassian’sfour - yr exploitsget him to the start of Rogue One when Andor returns on Disney+ in 2024 , potentially around August , according to director Tony Gilroy .
