At least 16 citizenry are dead after a hot zephyr balloon catch on firing and go down into a pasture in Texas , according to theAssociated Press .
The clank happened in the town of Lockhart , around 30 miles south of Austin in Texas . An official with the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) said the crash happen at around 7:40 am on Saturday . There are no reputation of survivors .
grant to KXAN , a local NBC affiliate , looker initially reported a vehicle crash , but when official get in at the panorama , they found the basketful from the balloon .
The cause is unknown , but FAA and National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB ) officials are headed to the scene .

Update 2:15 post-mortem examination : The Associated Press reports that the balloon was operated by the Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides . Officials do n’t have word on what could ’ve caused the crash , but the balloon was found in an area that ’s mostly farmland , with a row of monumental high - capacity transmission communication channel about 4 to 5 stories tall cutting through it .
