The PayPal - owned app Venmo has grown enormously in the past couple of old age as a way to apportion money between champion . But as with all fiscal service , consumers have had a few complaint , fit in to documents recently get by Gizmodo .

It seems that people who have never had accounts with Venmo have report willy-nilly see withdrawal from their checking and nest egg accounts for amounts just under $ 3,000 . The FTC has anonymized the complaint so we ’re unable to contact out to the people making the allegations . But the complaint seemed logical enough to mention . Venmo currently limits the amount for commit payments to$2,999.99 .

I asked a Venmo spokesperson over the speech sound if they ’d noticed any rule or why there might be these charges for just under $ 3,000 . They said that they could n’t gloss on single complaints . They also could n’t tell me how a soul who had n’t sign up for an account could possibly be charged .
