Turns out he ’s bumble across some evidence that leads straight to a major payload of ultra - high tech guns that are coming into the Brotherhood . These grease-gun have burst forth bullets , so they can edit through armoured vehicle and shred fastball proof vests like paper .
First of all , I lie with the estimation that Dominic , drawing card of the Brotherhood , is such a mellow - technical school badass . Winston Duke is also one of those histrion who does a fantastical job conveying intelligence information — so when Dominic finally has a confrontation with Elias , we absolutely believe that Dominic is the kind of genius who almost attract one over on genius Elias and the Machine Gang . But I ’m getting ahead of myself here .
When Elias regain out that these superintendent - grease-gun are about to be all over the streets of NYC , he want to put a stoppage to it . The two are going into full flirt mode , and Finch is acting waaaaaay out of grapheme . When their bags are steal by a mugger , he even sleuths out where the mugger go and grab their suitcase back from him . What ? Finch is being romantic lead guy ? Um , nope . As much as bridge totally deserves to have a cute nerd hitting on her , it turns out the whole affair was a frame-up . Finch knows that bridge deck is working on an algorithm that ’s of potential pursuit to Samaritan ( we find out at the remainder of the episode that he ’s ripe about that ) , and he wants their “ mugger ” to install some sort of keylogger on Bridges ’ computer so he can get across her .
And boy was Finch right to track Bridges . It turns out that the holy man investor she ’s courting to pump money into her AI algorithm ship’s company is none other than Greer ( who is really just a front for Samaritan at this spot ) . So not only is Samaritan gearing up to go the government — it ’s also try out to augment its own tycoon with new software . Which makes gross sense .

Also , as an away , I love that this show is so concerned about technology that Finch throw us a nimble infodump on how he ’s capable to communicate with Shaw without using the mesh web phones . turn out that as long as they do n’t use certain “ central run-in ” their conversation wo n’t be sag on the open electronic web . So mostly they ’ll be transmit with the mesh net phones , but sometimes they can talk over regular artificial satellite networks as long as they invalidate certain words .
The Failed State
Last week , I was thinking a lot about how this show is about the United States fall prey to a techno - fascist authorities , centrally controlled by an evil AI . But this week ’s story has me reckon that the show is about something a lot more terrifying : a fail state . Just think about our major ability brokers at this point . We ’ve got criminal offence bosses Elias and Dominic , as well as surveillance profiteer Greer . The NYPD is in a shambles — even a fake police detective is capable to do a better chore than they can . And the US government ? Well , it ’s become the puppet of a evil AI and does n’t even understand it .
