Fast & FuriousProducer Thinks the Franchise Should Get Back to Its Roots

What does the future look like for theFast & Furious franchise ? It ’s an interesting interrogative sentence to ask of a series that began with Dominic Toretto ( Vin Diesel ) leading a bunch of untested malefactor who were stealing DVD player and catching the aid of young cop Brian O’Connor ( Paul Walker ) , only to later progressto going into spaceand having car fights on the long rail in cinematic account . Much likeMission : Impossible , the series continues to try and top itself with each Modern entry , and there does n’t appear to be any literal ceiling on the vehicular rabidity .

But if you ask producer Neal Moritz , he intend that inescapably , the future of the enfranchisement involves scale matter back . On a recent interview onMatt Beloni ’s podcast “ The Town,”Moritz discussed how “ going minor , ” he thinks , will help the franchise in the futurity . “ I ’d care to kind of offset to go back to where we start , ” he answer . “ I like to zig and then zag , ” he said . “ I like to test and do something dissimilar , and that ’s what audiences demand today . ” He used Sonic 2 ( which he also produced ) as a compare spot , calling more of an activity - adventure photographic film compared to the original ’s smaller scale and having Green Hills as its central positioning . “ To me , ” Moritz continued , “ we have to strain and go in a little dissimilar direction . ”

The mainline films have , as previously say , been completely absurd with each new movie , but the spinoffs have attempted to branch the franchise in different directions . 2019 ’s Hobbs & Shaw was more of a pal comedy that did n’t really have a key “ they ’re doing WHAT ? ! ” set piece to its name , for best or worse . And the Netflix animated cartoon Spy Racers , while being for kids , has its own decided flavor of espionage trick , include judgement control formulas andunderwater automobile battles . So there ’s still ways for the series to keep on driving on after Fast 11 wraps thing up , but as far as going back to their theme … mayhap in Fast 12 , they try out stealing PS5s ?
