Ever since Gareth Edwards debuted his Godzilla laggard last calendar month , we ’ve been trying to figure out the enigma kaiju thatbriefly appeared in the footage . And now , thanks to a screening at SXSW , we ’ve got a with child idea of who this 2nd monster just may be .
Who are the other behemoth in the newfangled Godzilla trailer ?
Last dark the steel new Godzilla movie screened a glob of footage for fans and journalists , and allegedly the crowd was so pleased with what they saw the cartridge clip even got a standing standing ovation , which is very hopeful . More importantly this footage debut the 2nd monster , a kaiju creature we previously hoped could be Rodan , but from the sound of i , this unexampled “ Muto ” is a wholly new creation . Here are a few descriptions from the tribe who were there .

We return to the Honolulu drome just as the exponent is being doctor to the tramcar . The crowd on the train has a brief second of sculptural relief before all awesome holy hell break wanton . The tramcar is shake off from its tracks by a monumental Kaiju that stylistically looks like a compounding of a mosquito and the Cloverfield monster . It front like this is the creature the government had a beading on over the radio .
The tramcar dangles precariously as Aaron Taylor - Johnson strain out to salve his young Montgomery Ward . But even if he does , who will stop the brute destroying the airport ? Who the hell do you call up ? In a jolly heroic reveal for a character that has already caused aggregate destruction in his own right hand , the queen of All Monsters steps up to put a flavor down . With a massive hollo , we get our first full feel at the original big bad ass . And he is gorgeous ! A absolutely updated flavor of Toho ’s creation place upright before us .
Ai n’t It aplomb :
Back at the airport the king comes back on in the railway car and the minor seems less gross out out . The data track behind them get down up in incision , lighten up up the airport as it goes . One section , two , three and then something seems wrong . The next surgical incision lights up and a brainsick bald bat - looking monster stands over it , two legs on each side . It ’s kind of like the Cloverfield monster in proportion , but much more elaborate .
This thing goes crazy and starts tearing up the railcar . Taylor - Johnson protects the tike as the thing gets throw about , pull open and people start spill out . This monster is maybe 25 - 30ish foot improbable , I ’d guess . In the chaos of the attack a chain chemical reaction of burst is set off , jet fuel in airplanes park at gates ignite and like Antoine Domino they explode one after another . The final one explodes and a thick foot stomps down .

And here is when Edwards reveals Godzilla ’s second scourge : Another kaiju ! It ’s a multi - limbed creature with what appear like wings on its back ( that would explain the enigma shape we saw cutting through the cloud in the prescribed trailer ) …
Topless Robotrevealed this Godzilla toy that does n’t appear to have a name , but sure enough sounds like the creature the above sites were describing . Could this winged baddie be Godzilla ’s new opponent ? Its wings certainly match what we saw plunging into the ocean during the trailer .
We ca n’t be certain . Only time , and more footage , will tell . Until then , enjoy the latest Mondo poster from Godzilla !
