“The One Where Chandler Cheated” — that’s almost how oneFriend’s episode went.
Actress Lisa Cash, who appeared in the show’s season 5 episode “The One in Vegas: Part 1,” revealed that she was originally a part of a storyline whereMatthew Perry’s character Chandler Bing cheated onCourteney Cox’s Monica Geller. But the plotline was ultimately axed because Perry spoke up.
“Basically, the scene was Chandler and Monica were arguing in [Las] Vegas … Chandler goes up to the hotel room, orders room service and I bring it up as a hotel worker,” Cash toldTMZ. “And we end up talking, laughing and connecting and Chandler ends up cheating on Monica with my character.”
Cash said they had “rehearsed it and everything.” But the day before they were scheduled to shoot in front of a live audience, Perry asked to have the storyline changed.

“I was told that [he] went into the writers and said the audience would never forgive him for cheating on Monica, which he was probably right,” Cash explained. “That would have changed possibly the course of the show and his character.”
FriendscreatorsMarta KauffmanandDavid Cranedid not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the incident and whether the storyline had been changed.
Cash said since the storyline was changed, she was instead featured in the same episode as a flight attendant on Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) and Ross Geller’s (David Schwimmer) flight. However, she recalled how “neat” it was to get to work with Perry one-on-one.

“I was coming in, and I was new to the industry. And it could have been really intimidating for me to have… a scene with Matthew Perry, but I felt so comfortable,” she noted.
“He was really likable and welcoming and just made me feel at ease, and it’s fun you know,” she added. “It was really fun doing the scene with him and it was easy doing the scene with him.”
Perry was founddeadat his Los Angeles-area home on Oct. 28 at age 54. Sources toldTMZthat first responders were called to the residence for cardiac arrest, and no illicit drugs were found at the scene.
In addition, the outlet obtained 911 dispatch audio in which “drowning” is referenced.

PEOPLE confirmed that Perrywas laid to reston Nov. 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles near Warner Bros. Studios. All five of hisFriendscostars were in attendance for the service, occurring nearly one week after his passing.
