Tom Siebel , founding father ofSiebel Systems(which he sold to Oracle for a gargantuan pile of money ) was commit by an elephant in the Serengeti while on vacation there . Where ’s your money now ? !
Early on the dawn of Aug. 1 , Siebel said , he and a guide endure to a watering yap , where they hoped to observe a variety of game that were known to foregather in the unruffled former morning hour . They were watching a group of elephant from 200 yards by – “ keeping a reverential distance , ” Siebel say – when one turned and without warning began to charge .
“ There was no apparent reason , nothing that should have made it find threaten , ” Siebel said . “ It was placid , and then the still stopped , ” when the elephant begin thundering toward the two humanity .
As the monolithic beast conclude the distance , Siebel said the guide fired a gun but missed . Siebel enunciate he was trampled and gore in the leg , until he just “ curled into as tight a orchis as I could . ” The templet suffered broken ribs and other injuries .
After the beast left and the serviceman called for assistance , rescuers came and eventually airlift Siebel to Nairobi , where he encounter emergency care before flying back to California for more treatment . All told , he said , he spend 18 days in four hospitals before he was allow to go home .
Siebel has been using a wheelchair but has enjoin friend he expect to make a full recovery , after rehabilitative surgery and physical therapy .
