The mavin Zeta Ophiuchi is twenty time the sizing of our Sun and fell unreasoning through blank space . Its runaway path has taken it through a vast clump of space dust , make this beautiful prow - regulate “ Wake Island ” of gaseous state and dust .
Zeta Ophiuchi was once the companion of another , even big star , but its spouse went supernova . This ejected Zeta Ophiuchi from its orbit , shooting it off into open space like a humongous heater . It is now hurtling through space at 54,000 miles per hour , and the late part of its cosmic odyssey has taken it through this rubble swarm . WISE , NASA ’s infrared telescope , snapped this amazing paradigm of Zeta Ophiuchi and its “ curtain call shock . ”
NASA experts explain what ’s going on here :

As the hotshot tears through space , its powerful steer push gas and dust out of its elbow room and into what is called a bow shock . The textile in the bow cushion is so compressed that it glow with infrared brightness that WISE can see . The effect is similar to what happens when a boat speeds through water , drive a wave in front of it . This bow shock is completely hidden in seeable twinkle . Infrared look-alike like this one from WISE are therefore significant for shedding newfangled light on the realm .
