Just hours ago we reported that theOne laptop computer Per Child projectwas going to unveil their $ 100 tab at CES . And now we have some of the first official picture of the highly affordable , yet extremely durable gadget .

As with the original OLPC , charge plate is the pet selection of material here , keeping the target price to a single benjamin . But the 8 - inch exhibit seems to be protected with a soft silicone cover version . The OLPC project is of course targeted at small fry , so while the XO 3.0 is no where near as tenuous as the iPad 2 , its chunky form element does give it the show of being Tonka tough .

I ’m particularly curious about the interior of the silicone polymer cover as pictured in this shot . When office is n’t available the XO 3.0 can be bear down by a hand - chicken feed , but that down in the mouth patterned cloth on the interior of the cover looks suspiciously like a solar cell . I want to believe that being able to load it with a few hr of sunlight is an selection , but that $ 100 price tag gives me my doubts . [ TechCrunch ]
