The night was in celebration of iconic designer Gabrielle Chanel, and Washington told PEOPLE what makes her feel iconic.
“I think the thing that makes me feel most iconic is when I’m giving myself an experience in luxury, like a bubble bath with the candles and the book. Like those kind of moments where I feel like I am in the moment of self care and luxury? That’s when I feel the most iconic,” she shared.
When asked what her most meaningful pieces of jewelry were, Washington replied, “my wedding band and my engagement ring” from her husband of 10+ years, Nnamdi Asomugha.

This week, Chanel is opening its first U.S. flagship — and fourth worldwide — in New York City. The boutique, located in Manhattan’s Crown Building, is dedicated to selling watches and fine jewelry.
