Marissa Lawrenceis thanking fans who flooded her Instagram DMs this week with well wishes for her NFL star husbandTrevor Lawrence, who left Monday night’s football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury.The Jaguars quarterback, 24, did not return to Monday night’s game after the injury, which his team eventually lost in overtime 34-31. With the NFL playoffs just over a month away and the Jaguars poised to make a run at the Super Bowl, Trevor’s game-ending injury left fans holding their breaths.
Whilea number of NFL stars have spoken outrecently about the way many sports fans have used social media to harass them with violent and racist messages, Marissa took to Instagram on Tuesday to highlight the sometimes positive ways fans use their platforms to connect with athletes.
In particular, she shared a clip of messages she received from fans who sent her DMs hoping to boost Trevor’s spirits after Monday night’s injury.

Trevor also thanked fanson Xafter the game, writing, “Thanks to everyone for the prayers and everyone that reached out,” along with a raised hands emoji. “It is much appreciated.“The Jaguars said this week that Trevor sustained a high ankle sprain and that he could potentially return next Sunday when the team takes on the Cleveland Browns, according toESPN.
That’s good news for Jags fans – including Marissa, who regularly attends her husband’s games and celebrates the team’s success on social media.
The sports couple first met in high school and began dating in 2016, before Trevor went on to play quarterback for Clemson University and Marissa played soccer at Anderson University.

The college soccer star-turned-event planner marked their second wedding anniversary this past April with another adoring post on social media.“Your love is the greatest gift I could ask for,” Marissa shared in an Instagram post dedicated to her husband. “It is patient, kind, considerate, understanding, silly, selfless, graceful… I can go on and on… You are the best husband and partner! It’s you + me forever. Here’s to 80 more.”
