“I think he had a specific vision. I heardLady Gagatalking about it, so I think it was his thing,” he said. “That probably might be the only time they ever perform that song together so it made it feel really special.”

“Afterwards I went up to him and I was like, ‘You killed it!’ and he was like, ‘Really?!'” Ronson shared. “And I was like, ‘How can you not know?’ But I think that, yeah, he’s not a singer so it was so brave of him to go up and do that.”
The music producer and Gaga, 32, both wonthe Oscar for Best Original Songfor “Shallow” at Sunday night’s ceremony.
After DeGeneres asked him how long it took to write the hit song, Ronson responded: “It was probably a couple of days. She had this idea for the chorus, she sat down at the piano and she just kind of picked a few chords and then she’s like, ‘I’m off the deep end’ or something and then we all hit the ground running. She’s super fast.”
“And then I think we got the ‘in the shallow’ part a little later,” Ronson continued. “Because I love her songs like ‘Bad Romance’ and… the wild Gaga thing that she does. So I said, ‘We should do something a little weird!’ I know this is for this film and it’s a ballad, but do your weird Gaga thing!”

Gaga and Cooper, 44, stepped right out of their seats in the front row to take the stage at Sunday night’s Oscars to perform “Shallow”, which was featured in the Oscar-nominated filmA Star Is Born.
In her tearful acceptance speech for Best Original Song, Gaga thanked those closest to her, including her sister Natali Germanotta, 26.

“Thank you so much. To the Academy for this wonderful honor. Thank you to every single person in this room. Thank you to Mark Ronson, to Anthony Rossomando, to Andrew Wyatt my co-writers, I love them so much. To my sister, my soul mate, I love you,” she said, crying. “My family is here, I love you, mom and dad.”
She also sent love to Cooper: “Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could’ve sung this song with me but you,” Gaga said. “Thank you for believing in us, thank you so much.”
