Reese Witherspoon Remembers Grandmother with Throwback Photos: ‘Huge Part of My Childhood’

Reese Witherspoonis looking back on fond memories of her grandmother.

On Wednesday, Witherspoon shared two throwback photos of herself as a child onInstagram, with one image showing herself posing next to her grandmother sitting on the edge of a car seat.

“To all the grandmas out there… you are so important!!” theMorning Showactress, 47, wrote in a caption, adding that her “grandma Dorothea was a huge part of my childhood.”

“She picked me up for school every day, helped with my homework, read stories to me (with lots of silly voices), taught me to bake gingerbread cookies and drink tea out of fancy cups for fun,” she wrote.

“Everything she did was magical to me. I was so lucky to have her encouraging my creativity and learning. Here’s to all the grandparents in the world raising our littles! Keep up the great work.”

The actress and producer shared in her caption that her memories with her grandmother are related to her hopes that herBusy Bettychildren’s books will “help foster those moments of memorable connection with our kids.”

“I hope she teaches kids that a BIG personality is a gift and that having a million questions and a billion ideas is never ever a bad thing!!”

“I’ve been thinking about creating a children’s book with realistic young female characters since I hadmy daughter,” Witherspoon said in a 2022 statement announcing the series' first entry.

“When I was a kid, I had a busy brain with a million ideas and more energy than most adults could manage so Betty is really based on adventures from my childhood.”
