“Usually for my drag, I like to do a severe Sasha,” she tells PEOPLE. “We thought it would be really nice to show a softer side of Sasha for this look.”
The star turned to her glam squad (Preston Menseson makeup,Ricky Fraseron hair andLaurel Thomsonas her stylist) and even family members (cousin Tama is her personal assistant) to make her feel her best for the Emmys stage. (And it was a huge night:RuPaul’s Drag Racewon the Emmy for best reality competition series for the fifth time in the show’s history!)
“I think it’s so much fun to play dress up and have a good time on the red carpet,” she says. “My red carpet style mantra is feel comfortable, feel confident, and own it.”
