Film producer Lucy Fisher is sharing a gruesome behind-the-scenes anecdote fromStuart Little 2. Be warned, you may never be able to see the film’s feline cast in the same way again!
TheGladiator IIproducer was part ofThe Hollywood Reporter’s recent Producers Roundtable, alongside Mary Parent,Amy Pascal, Samantha Quan, Tessa Ross and Monique Walton. During their conversation, published Dec. 5, Fisher balked at having to follow upAnoraproducer Quan’s story of applyingSimon Rex’s prosthetic penison the set of directorSean Baker’sRed Rocketand ensuring that it would stay on for a scene in which Rex had to run down the street naked.
“I’m asked to followthatstory?” Fisher joked. But she more than rose to the occasion.

“I also was an executive for 25 years,” she explained. “As an executive, you can tell people, ‘You should fix this.’ But when you’re the producer, you’re the person you have to tell to fix the thing.”
“We did have the cat’s a—— fall out inStuart Little,” she added as an example of the things she’s had to “fix” on film sets. “It prolapses,” she explained. “But it went back in and we continued to shoot.”

“The hardest part of being a producer, and the most fun part, is trying to figure out the problems while 20 other things are going on,” Fisher continued. “You’re trying to remember, ‘What’s the most important thing I should be paying attention to right now, so I’m not paying attention to the thing no one’s going to care about and I am paying attention to the thing that’s going to ruin the movie if it doesn’t get fixed?’ ”
She added that she’s turned to Lucasfilm headKathleen Kennedyfor advice many times. “She knew the answer to everything,” Fisher said.
“About the cat’s a——?”Challengersproducer Pascal asked.
“No, not about that one,” Fisher said.
Conclaveproducer Ross, meanwhile, congratulated Fisher for matching — some might even say topping — Quan’sRed Rocketanecdote.
