J.Crew - Presentation - September 2016 - New York Fashion Week

The biggest trend? Brands embracing a wide range of body types. Christian Siriano featured five plus-size models on the runway including Sabina Karlsson, Alessandra Garcia-Lorido, Marquita Pring, Georgia Pratt and Precious Lee.

Chromat also featured plus-size models down the runway, including Iskra Lawrence, who wrote in anInstagrampost that after 13 years of modeling, it marked her very first runway appearance at NYFW. “A few years ago I was doing shows in local malls and shopping centres being told I’d never get signed in NY. So I did my damn thing yesterday for everyone who called me fat, all the no’s and rejections bc beauty is so much more than a size or shape or colour it’s who you are and the light you shine,” she wrote.

And after her genius moment on stage with the co-hosts, she took a spin down the catwalk too.

J.Crew didn’t feature one professional model during their presentation, rather, they gathered friends and present and past employees of the brand to model the spring collection.

Two other notable takeaways from the show? Theheavily-greased beauty lookson the models and itswacky double-faced cowboy boots.

Tracy Reese had a garden party presentation (in a cemetery!) with models showing off the delicate floral-print collection in a pretty park setting.

Sies Marjan held its show at the New York City Bar Association where models walked among the books in the gigantic library. And to fit the show’s theme, the brand even sent out invitations in the form of old school library cards.

And Rebecca Minkoff took street fashion quite literally, presenting her spring collection outside her New York flagship store on 96 Greene Street.
